Another super healthy berry-producing plant for our chlly Minnesota climate. These plants are approximately 4-years-old and are potted in 2-gallon containers. Many were producing fruit in their pots, in their 2nd year (2023).
Black currants are known to be particularly high in the antioxidant anthocyanin and the omega-6 fatty acid GLA. These substances have strong anti-inflammation and immune-boosting effects. They are also very high in vitamin C and contain a number of other beneficial vitamins and elements.
Great for preserves, juicing, and wine. This is believed to be the Consort variety of black currant. At maturity, Consort can reach 3 - 5 feet tall and 3 - 6 feet wide. Prefers well-drained, loamy soil with a slightly acidic pH. However, it will do well in a variety soil types.
